Today is International Women’s Day! Collaboration with a Purpose wanted to celebrate women from all over the world! (Don’t worry, we will cover men on International Men’s Day November 19.) If you are a man, you still will get something out of these posts because a woman had to positively influence your life at some point (I hope!).
International Women’s Day (March 8) is a “global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.”

Internationally, purple is a color for symbolizing women, and it signifies justice and dignity.

What Is A Strong Woman?
This is a tough question to answer because the answer can vary for each woman. For me, I want my daughters to be strong women.
- Never depend on anyone but know when to ask for help. You can be in a relationship (when you are older) and still be strong and independent.
- You want something, go get it. When it comes to goal setting, if you really want and believe in something, don’t take no for an answer. Find a way.
- You define yourself. Who you are is not dependent on what others think of you.
- You are beautiful with scars, limitations, birthmarks, or whatever that may deem you not perfect. No one is perfect. You are perfect just the way you are.
- If you feel you have weaknesses, work on those, don’t dwell on them. We all have weaknesses.
- When you fall, don’t crumble. Instead, stand up stronger than you were before you fell. Learn from your setbacks.
- Love without fear because you are worth it.
I could go on and on about everything I want to teach my daughters about being strong women, but here are some other references.
- “Being a strong woman means loving yourself when the rest of society says you’re too big or too skinny or too dark or too tall or too short or too much or too little.”
- “It means defining your own strength, instead of adhering to a set of standards society has decided women must follow in order to be considered strong.”
- “A strong woman is self-aware. She continually tries to overcome her fears, she knows how to control herself, and she is patient no matter the situation. She isn’t afraid to reveal her feelings because we all have them, and she shows hers without caring what other people think.”
- “A strong woman gets up every time she falls. She pushes forward, even when all odds are against her. She doesn’t let others influence her decisions. She’s resilient.”
- “A strong woman knows she has enough strength for her journey, but a praying woman knows it’s in her journey, where she’ll gain her strength!”
- “Strong women carve out their earthly successes by helping other women succeed. They see their life-force as plentiful. Strong women help their friends surpass them with humility, not envy. The big picture is clear to them.”

Here’s my favorite quote, Ipuna:
“You define yourself. Who you are is not dependent on what others think of you.”
Absolutely, spot-on, one hundred percent true. And we all need to remember it more often, because sometimes the societal echo chamber tends to drown out our individuality.
But if more people read your posts, perhaps it won’t. 😉
Happy Women’s Day! 😀

These quotes and the collective they present are very powerful. I even got a giggle from a few of them, and found favorites amongst them as well. But mainly, I celebrated you as a women for rounding them up, and sharing them here in celebration of women worldwide. Thanks!

Hi there, strong woman, I love your quotes about women, my favorite is from Michelle Obama: It’s the difference we make in people’s lives. That is very true! and the list of what you want to teach your daughters.
I also like how you included men. Yes, women should have (I hope) a positive impact on their lives, considering they were carried by a woman – their own mother. I’m sure your daughters will grow up as wonderful, strong, generous, and kindhearted like you. Happy Women’s Day, Ipuna!

Ipuna, that’s again a motivating post. I really liked all the quotes and a mother’s advice to her daughter, “Be strong and don’t take no for an answer. Find a way.” You are a sunshine, and yes, we must support women worldwide.
