I recently visited Northern Arizona University for a football camp with my son (remember, when my car blew up!). I love the forests around everywhere. I took some time to read in the woods and enjoy nature. We don’t have much of it in Las Vegas. Alone time is important, and many of us don’t get enough of it. Solitude has been known as a time to “return to the self.” What does that mean? Additionally, what are some benefits related to solitude?

Four Amazing Benefits of Solitude
- Freedom. You have the freedom to do what you want. When you are in a group, you have to consider the needs and wants of others. Additionally, you may be influenced by the opinions of others. With solitude, you are it.
- Creativity. When you are alone, you can allow your creative thoughts to run wild. Solitude is an opportunity to dig deep within yourself to create a masterpiece that began as a seed in your soul.
- Intimacy. By yourself? What? Hear me out. Solitude provides an opportunity to reflect on those you care most amount. You can ponder major questions on relationships.
- Spirituality. Time alone provides you with the opportunity to develop wisdom and insight into the still human soul.
Enjoy Solitude
Take yourself on a date! Get to know yourself better. This may sound stupid, but this is what the “return to the self” phrase is all about. In this day and age of rapid technology, take some time to turn everything off. Grab a good book and swing on a hammock with your cell phone off. Take a nice long walk or jog along beautiful scenery. Talk to yourself in your head or out loud (just don’t blame me if anyone calls you crazy). Find a tree stump in the woods and enjoy the sounds of nature: a leaf rustling, a bird chirping, and maybe a frog croaking. (Make sure you know where you are at and how safe you will be. We don’t need any The Lovely Bones stories!) Sit on a beach away from the crowds. Praise yourself (I promise it’s okay. I think we spend more time putting ourselves down than lifting ourselves up.) Think about all the good that you’ve done. Think about all the good you want to accomplish. Then, go do it! How you feel is what you will attract.
I promise that you will feel rejuvenated if you spend some time in solitude.

I value my alone time, Sunshine. Because I hardly get any. Sometimes, I literally have to break some hearts and push some people away just to get some ME time.
“Talk to yourself in your head or out loud (just don’t blame me if anyone calls you crazy).”
– I do that almost all the time – out loud. So yes! Crazy is a common term sround me 😂😂😂 I enjoy it when I do it.
Getting lost into a book is also something I love to do. My friends and family know that when I have started reading a book, it’ll be difficult to drag me back so they give me space. But just to be safe – I isolate myself so that my imagination can run wild.
Very informative post, Mom (better not say it or else…😂😂)

Yes! It’s important to let your imagination free. Get lost in a book. Find yourself again. We have to. Oh no…did I see the M word? I need some alone time right now.

As someone who leans to the introvert side of the spectrum, I cherish my alone time. I know solitude can be scary for extroverts but it’s important for them too!

I think it is essential to a deeper understanding of all things, most importantly, self. We hear best in complete silence, in both a literal and spiritual sense. Thanks 🙏🏾

Absolutely. I’ll need some solitude to dig deep in my brain for the next book!

So many good points here…. Solitude can lead to wisdom, as many Phiosophers would state… I firmly believe so. I agree with you, mainly in the aspects related to freedom & creativity…
An excellent post here… Thanks so much for sharing! Sending love & best wishes 😀

Awesome post as always! I definitely need some quiet alone time, though not always in nature (I have a nemesis called mosquito 😛). If I don’t get enough quiet alone time in a while, I get grumpy. 😅

I hate mosquitoes too! Get that bug repellent. I get grumpy too! That’s funny.

My mosquitoes seem immune to bug repellent. I have to electrocute them instead

Ipuna,
great post and great pictures. I like nature too. My soul and my body in nature are recovering because of nature frequency which is just like ours about 7,8 Mhz.
Alone in nature is my energy charger.
Thank you

If I don’t get enough Alone Time I grow grumpy, haha. Solitude doesn’t have to be a bad thing, although it’s often met with negative views on it.

Ha ha. There are a few of us who get grumpy without alone time. Too funny.

Ipuna over a period of time you have grabbed some good friends on WP and I see they participate so lively in most of your posts.
The structure you have designed for Solitude is apt.
I wonder if understood in the right perspective nothing like that. Just imagine how many people would be living peacefully.
Great!

Really good advice here, Ipuna. Occasional solitude should be counted as a basic human right. I know it because by the end of school holidays (when the kids are all at home) I’m usually a different person… and not in a good way!

Love your article! Everyone needs alone time every now and again. I only really realized this in the last few years because I’ve been spending more time alone than I have in the past. My life is so much better because of it.

Yes! I’m glad you agree. Especially, in this day and age of media access! We can feel overwhelmed. Some quiet time in nature is the best. Or any alone time really! It helps us recharge.
