How I Started My Blog
Well, I started my blog by going to WordPress and scratching my head because I was so confused on where to begin. Then, I typed some stuff and hit publish. 😜
I guess the question should be why I started my blog? I have been busy MANY years in school and having children (4 of them to be exact!). I have my PhD in Nursing. My nose has been in books (textbooks which aren’t nearly as fun as wild, creative, moving, fiction books). After I graduated in 2014, my creative juices were bursting through my pores. I needed a creative outlet. Here are some other reasons why I started this blog.
- Most importantly, I started this blog because of all of you! People! Humans! Souls! Energy! I get to connect with all of that. Readers, writers, creative minds, intellectual beings. Figure out this world and life together.
- I had a troubled childhood home environment. Statistically, I should’ve turned to gangs, drugs, and whatever else to escape a crappy childhood and for survival. I didn’t. Although I started down the path of statistics and was a single mother at the age of 21, I figured out a way to overcome the odds and got my head on straight. I fought to get my bachelor’s degree which changed my future. I didn’t stop there and continued my education until I received my PhD. I believe sharing my life experiences may make a difference to even one reader.
- I found a love for writing YA fiction. I use my experiences both as a nurse and in my personal life to throw my characters into some stressful situations and give them hope. This blog has helped me connect with other writer and readers. It’s been fun!
- To get out of my comfort zone. We grow when we are uncomfortable.
Two Pieces of Advice for New Bloggers
Just Do It!
I started my blog initially in 2014, but I hesitated to post anything because I thought, no one will read this. What do I have to say? Who am I? Therefore, I tiptoed into posting and publishing anything. I made a goal for 2017 to ignore my fears and just do it. See what comes out of your creative head! Let’s smash fear together and post away. You never know who you may connect with or touch. It’s pretty amazing.
Side note: I also have an “unusual” first name, Ipuna, so I thought no one will find me! My name means pretty in Korean if you are wondering. I’m half Korean and half Puerto Rican. Random piece of information right there.
Have Fun with It
Don’t stress about saying the perfect words or having the perfect pictures. Be yourself. Most bloggers/readers accept and love all of your imperfections. It’s called being human. When you just let go and have fun, that is when the magic happens. I’ve connected with people from all over the world. I feel like I’m traveling through my computer. It is absolutely amazing! ❤️ 🇯🇵 🇱🇷 🇲🇽 🇸🇩 🇺🇦 🇸🇦 🇱🇨 🇼🇸 🇮🇶 🇯🇪 🇯🇴 🇱🇻 🇦🇫 🇦🇽 🇦🇱 🇦🇮 🇲🇸 🇿🇲 🇬🇧 🇻🇺 🇻🇳 🇰🇷 🇸🇳 🇹🇷 🇺🇸 🇸🇰 🇪🇸 🇿🇲 🇦🇱 🇦🇫

Ipuna! I have a few words to say and I hope that they make perfect sense. First, thank you very much for your sweet words! I feel each one of them. The warmth that I feel coming from your words did not only make my mouth curve into a smile until my cheeks hurt, but also they made me feel love, so I thank you for that. Second, you are hilarious! The beginning of “How I started My Blog” is everything; catchy, funny, etc….and I am so glad that you started this blog. Not only that. But I am thrilled that you did not let your circumstances stop you from accomplishing your dream! See! Your dream did deserve a shot! And I am glad that you have taken the responsibility to make it happen. From your story, I can tell that, and I hope everyone can, if not, then, that’s okay, it wasn’t an easy ride. But, it made stronger. Finally, from the deepest part of my heart, I hope you keep on moving and keep finding ways to grow. As long as you are here, your work hasn’t finished. There are still dreams that you have yet accomplished and people you have yet touched.
Happy Journey! And once again, thank you! 🙂

Oristel,
What wonderful words! Thank you! I appreciate every single one of your words. They mean a lot to me! I should let me funny side out a little more. She’s ready to play. Ha ha. We both have a journey to reach many and make a difference. We will do it one day and one person at a time. So glad we met! ❤️

I received the same award a year ago but did nothing about it. I didn’t promote it or follow the rules to nominate someone.

I’m learning that some people have an “award free” blog rule. One person told me she just has a page with acknowledgements to people who nominated her. This is new to me, so I participated this time.

The words of gratitude that I know of are too weak to express what I feel on being nominated by you ma’am. It’s a real honour and I mean it from the bottom of my heart.
I had the se thought when I started my blog, if anyone would read it and if I would get enough support. I know how bad it feels to not be appreciated for a sincere effort. I have learnt here that no matter who we are there are always wonderful people who respect efforts. I don’t know everything about life, but it’s through people like you that I learn how important it is to accept who we are and also to learn what others have in store for us. Have a blessed day ma’am.

I did nominate you too for the Blogger Recognition Award, haha. I’m just a little bit behind Oristel of informing you about it, I got caught up with something. 😅 Anyways, I’m equally happy for your acknowledgment on Oristel’s nomination 😊

Aw, Ipuna, I am SOOOOO touched you nominated me. I happen to be an award free blog, which you probably didn’t know about. But what I will do I will copy this page and put the link in my top menu where I have all other blogs (people) who nominated me. I am very grateful and very humbled that you thought of me. I also know how scary it is to start blogging and loved the few facts you have given about you. You stay strong and I have every faith in you that you will reach your every goal!! Much Love! Amy ❤

Thanks, Amy! I don’t know much about this “award” stuff, so this is good information to know. You have a great suggestion for “awards” in the future for me. 😉
