We live in a world with much negativity from both external forces and even worse, from within. The voices that tell us we aren’t good enough to become everything we are capable of. On the other hand, there is a lot of good in this world. Good people. Good energy. Amazing moments.
For 2017, I want to harness the good. Therefore, I’m going to post one thing that inspired me to want to be a better person as often as I can. I won’t post on the weekends for the most part because I like to step away from my computer. 😬
Inspiration
What makes us do anything? I believe most of the time it is because we are passionate about something and/or we are inspired to create, pursue, take action, etc. I’ve had many life lessons that have inspired me to go into the nursing profession. I can’t name all the patients and coworkers who inspired me to live and love life. Many of my life experiences have inspired me to write.
Inspiration for YA Book on Human Trafficking
My YA book, that will be pitched to publishers soon, is on human trafficking. I was told by some that this is a hard topic to “sell” because of the sensitive subject matter. I wrote the book anyway. It’s real. Human trafficking is real. When I worked as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner in a Pediatric Emergency Department here, in Las Vegas, my specialty was sexual abuse scans. I had to interview minor girls involved in human trafficking in Las Vegas. I think the one thing that shocked me the most (in my mid-twenties at the time) was that many of the girls lived at home. They were raised in broken homes by broken parents. In the end, it was all about survival for them.
Interviewing the girls involved in human trafficking inspired me to write about them. The girls’ eyes, words, and aura will be embedded in my thoughts and heart forever.
Back to daily bits of inspiration.
I thought it would be great to document daily bits of inspiration because these moments are what make me want to be a better person, change (or cause change), or write, write, and write.
What inspired me today (it was actually last night) was coming home to a “heart-attacked” door.

I have a good idea which friend did this “secretly,” but what a great feeling it is to be thought about.

This Valentine treat holder is so cute!

All of the hearts on my door were perfect. It took time for my “friend” to decorate my door and drop off treats. This inspired me to step back and think about others. Does someone else need a “heart-attacked” door? In a world where we are sooooo busy, it’s important to step back and give to others. That will be something I will definitely continue to work on.
It’s the little things in life that mean everything. Smile and take a moment to make someone else feel special. ❤️❤️❤️
P.S. Thank you “secret,” amazing, wonderful, you made my day, friend!!!
