I was invited by Michael Fedison to participate in a writing challenge. I met him through the WordPress community and have loved his voice and creative mind. Be sure to check him out on his wonderful website, The Eye-Dancers.
The 777 Writing Challenge is very simple:
‘The 777 challenge requires you go to Page 7 of your work-in-progress, scroll down to Line 7 and share the next 7 lines in a blog post. Once you have done this, you can tag 7 other bloggers to do the same with their work-in-progress.’
This is an excerpt from my completed manuscript, which I’m currently querying agents with. I’m starting a second novel while I wait to hear feedback.
My fingertips grasped the net, and my hand shook as I used all the strength left in me to hang on. The hands that I felt on my waist were gone. The net ascended both of us to the surface of the water, where I let out several gasps.
I lifted the boy’s head above the water. The boy was Amando. He was new to fishing and probably twelve- years-old. I held his unconscious body in my arms while I looked up at the bright blue sky and gulped air into my lungs.
My eyes shifted to Amando’s blue lips and pale face. Time was of the essence. He looked dead.
The following talented writers have fantastic websites, and I hope you’ll view their writings and step into their creative worlds.
I also hope they will take up the 777 Writing Challenge (Your work doesn’t have to be a novel. It can be a poem or whatever you want to share.). . .
