Do you every stop and just listen to your surroundings? The beeping sound of an IV pump or a heart monitor is very distinct. When I hear it, it reminds me of working in the hospital. Depending on where you live, you may be used to the sound of crickets putting you to sleep. There are just certain sounds that you hear that stick with you. Every time you hear that sound, it reminds you of that place.
All of us get our inspirations from everyday life….what we hear, see, encounter, etc. As a writer, this often comes out in our books. I’ve been working with an amazing editor, Stuart Horwitz, founder of Book Architecture. I met him at the Las Vegas Writer’s Conference. I’m planning on having a post just for him later. Right now, I just wanted to talk about a comment he gave me. I had wrote about whistling frogs in my book. He told me he couldn’t picture it. Don’t they croak? His comment made me smile. The inspiration I got for this was from visiting Puerto Rico. They have the wonderful singing/whistling Coqui frogs. Every time I hear their sound, it makes me feel like I’m there.
Great job. I have an article called “There’s power I’m listening” that I think you may enjoy! Feel free to give any feedback 🙂
